One of the requirements for this logo was that it could be easily read when the printed on the side of a bulk bag of timber. I had experimented with a tree silhouette built out of the letters T and K but found the buzzsaw and tree rings version communicated the nature of the business in a clearer/bolder fashion. We spent a good bit of time trying out various colours combinations for the letterhead logo version and ended up with a minimal natural palette to reinforce the forestry vibe.
