INFO: 2021, digital painting
This took a long time to do – around 110 hours spread over two years. The boat perspective lines and long grasses in the wind proved to be particularly tricky. The printing process itself took some trial and error too as it seemed to print darker than previous digital paintings. Critique: the pose of the child is not quite right or realistic – it should be made clearer that his back is to the viewer. The ivy leaves on the foreground trees needed more defining using reference photos. Some of the tree bough shapes should have been made more angular as they took away from the spiral lines directing the viewers attention.
