INFO: 12 month dip. course, Summer 2011, 6-8 Trk showreel, CD single sleeve
This was my first time having to write out and notate pieces of music for a full orchestra and I really enjoyed parts of it. Each unit dealt with a different section of the orchestra with an emphasis on arranging for film music. I occasionally got lost while building harmonies and counter melodies and as a result the main thing I think I took from the course was the old proverbial ‘less is more’.
I’m a big fan of minimal scores, which is most soundtracks nowadays and I suppose thats what draws me toward film music. The show reel pictured below is actually a demo from before the course but as I had no images for the tracks I wrote I thought fuck it I’d post up some ‘auld ones instead :P
